Prof Basie Von Solms

Prof SH (Basie) von Solms is a Research Professor in the Academy for Computer Science and Software Engineering at the University of Johannesburg in Johannesburg, South Africa. He is attached to the University’s Centre for Cyber Security. He is an Associate Director of the Global Cybersecurity Capacity Centre of the University of Oxford in the UK. Basie had also been a member of the World Economic Forum’s Global Future Council for Cyber Security, and is presently a member of the WEF’s Expert Cyber Group.

Prof von Solms is a Past President of IFIP, the International Federation for Information Processing (www.ifip.org), and had been the Chair of IFIP’s Technical Committee 11 (TC 11) for two terms. He is also the recipient of TC 11’s Kristian Beckman Award.

He is a Fellow of the Institute for IT Professionals (IITP) of South Africa, a Fellow of the BCS, a Fellow of the Oxford Martin School of the University of Oxford, a Chartered Information Technology Professional (CITP) and a Member of The Academy of Science of South Africa.

Prof Costas Lambrinoudakis

Dr Costas Lambrinoudakis holds a BSc in Electrical and Electronic Engineering from the University of Salford (1985), an MSc in Control Systems from the University of London (Imperial College – 1986) and a PhD in Computer Science from the University of London (Queen Mary and Westfield College – 1991).

From 1998 until 2009 he has held teaching position with the University of the Aegean, Department of Information and Communication Systems Engineering, Greece. Currently he is a Professor at the Department of Digital Systems, University of Piraeus, Greece.  From 2015 he is Director of the Systems Security Lab, while for the period 2015-2020 he served as Head of the Department. For the period 2012-2015 he was a member of the board of the Hellenic Authority for Communication Security and Privacy, while from 2016 he serves on the board of the Hellenic Data Protection Authority.

His current research interests are in the areas of Information and Communication Systems Security and of Privacy Enhancing Technologies. For many years he is working on issues related to the protection of personal data and the compliance of information systems to the National and European Legislation. He is an author of more than 150 scientific publications in refereed international journals, books and conferences, most of them on ICT security and privacy protection issues. He has served as program committee chair of 19 international scientific conferences and as a member on the program and organizing committees in more than 210 others. Also he participates in the editorial board of two international scientific journals and he acts as a reviewer for more than 35 journals. He has been involved in many national and EU funded R&D projects in the area of Information and Communication Systems Security.

Siân John MBE

Siân John MBE is Chief Technology Officer at NCC Group responsible for intelligence, insight and innovation within the company.

Siân has worked in Cybersecurity for 25 years across strategy, business risk, privacy, and technology. She is a Fellow of the UK Chartered Institute of Information Security, Chair of the techUK Cybersecurity committee, and a council member for the Engineering and Physical Sciences Council (EPSRC). Siân was awarded an MBE in the Queen’s 2018 New Year’s Honours List for services to Cybersecurity.
